The Good Jewelry Case: Julie Vos and Brenda Grands at Gugu Gifts
The Case You Ask to See
Two lines account for most of the serious jewelry in the shop: Julie Vos, 90 pieces from $65 to $395, and Brenda Grands, 60 pieces of 18K and 24K gold from $38 to $85.
They solve different problems. Here’s how to tell which one you’re actually shopping for.
Julie Vos — $65 to $395
Julie Vos is statement jewelry. Hammered gold, stone insets, substantial weight — pieces that are visible across a room and photograph well, which is a large part of why Texans buy them.
Where the line sits right now:
- Crescent Hoop, Gold — $65. The entry piece, and the one to start with.
- Colette Bead Bangle, Gold — $75
- Valencia and Florentine Delicate Bracelets, Gold — $75
- Savannah and Catalina Bangles, Gold — $95
- Milano Luxe Bangles (Iridescent Chalcedony Blue, Clear Crystal, Pearl) — $125
- Carnaby and Catalina Hinge Bangles — $225
- Statement necklaces — $210 to $395
The Honeybee Statement Necklace at $395 is the top of the shop.
Who it’s for: a milestone. An anniversary, a fortieth, a daughter graduating. Also the person who already owns a lot of jewelry and is genuinely hard to surprise — Julie Vos is recognizable enough that they’ll know what it is.
One caution: it is not subtle. If the person you’re buying for wears one thin chain and nothing else, buy Brenda Grands instead.
Brenda Grands — $38 to $85
18K and 24K gold, dainty, wearable daily. This is the line for someone building a permanent set rather than making a statement.
- 18K Gold 10mm Zenith Hoops — $38
- 18K Gold Triple Mini Hoops — $48
- 18K Gold Dainty Diamond Cross Pendant Necklace — $53
- 18K Gold Squared Diamond Hoops — $58
- Aspen Initial Square Link Set — $58
- 24K Gold Hammered Hoops — $60
Under $85 for real gold, in shapes that stack and layer with whatever they already own.
Who it’s for: the person who wears the same necklace every day and would actually wear a second one. Initial pieces are the reliable choice when you know the person but not their taste.
Julie Vos or Brenda Grands?
| Julie Vos | Brenda Grands | |
|---|---|---|
| Range | $65–$395 | $38–$85 |
| Feel | Statement, substantial | Dainty, daily |
| Occasion | Milestone | Anytime |
| Risk if you guess wrong | High — it’s a lot of jewelry | Low — it layers |
If you’re stuck: Brenda Grands hoops at $38–$48 are close to un-wrong. Julie Vos is the better gift when you’re certain.
Why October, Not December
Both lines come in small quantities, and this is the part people learn the hard way: when a piece sells, it usually doesn’t come back that season. What’s in the case in October is largely what there is.
By mid-December the case is picked over — the popular bangles and the initial pieces go first, and the initials go in an unpredictable order depending on which letters people need. If there’s a specific person and a specific piece in your head, October is when both still exist.
We’ll hold a piece with a note. That costs you nothing and removes the December problem entirely.

Come See It in Person
Jewelry at this price genuinely does not photograph accurately — weight and finish are the whole point, and a screen flattens both.
