Housewarming Gifts for New Builds in Heartland (Forney, TX)
Heartland Is Still Building — and So Are the Friend Groups
If you’ve been to Heartland in Forney lately, you know the rhythm: a new section opens, a wave of moving trucks shows up, and within a month there’s a pop-up neighborhood book club, a moms’ group, and three group chats trying to figure out which neighbor has the best driveway for the kids’ birthday parties. New builds mean new social calendars, which means housewarming gifts.
Here’s the problem most people run into: bringing a bottle of wine to every new neighbor’s housewarming gets expensive fast and forgettable faster. A thoughtful under-$50 gift is the move — and it’s exactly what a curated mid-luxe shop is built for.
We’re at Gugu Gifts, 301 Tanger Dr, Suite 112, Terrell, TX 75160 — about 15 minutes east of Heartland on I-20. Here’s what we’d put in a housewarming gift bag right now.
The “I Just Met You But This Looks Expensive” Bundle (~$45)
Three items, one ribbon:
- Greenleaf Flower Diffuser — $34 in Cashmere Kiss or Orange & Honey. Setting it on the entryway console means every guest who walks in for the next two months gets the new house smelling like the new house should smell.
- Greenleaf Sachet — $3 in a coordinating scent. They tuck it in a linen closet and remember you weeks later.
- Crow Canyon Enamelware Marbled Dinner Plate (10”) — $14. A single statement plate. They put it under their fruit bowl on the new island and it ends up in every hosting photo for the next year.
The “Hostess With the New Kitchen” Bundle (~$48)
For the friend whose first big move is throwing the housewarming itself:
- Crow Canyon Enamelware Oval Serving Platter — $36–$40. Spatterware finish, lightweight, indestructible. Lives on the kitchen island.
- Glory Haus mug — $20. “Cakes & Candles” or a state-themed pattern. A coffee station essential.
- Add a Greenleaf Sachet — $3 tucked inside the mug as a surprise.
The “Mom Just Moved Into Her Forever Home” Bundle (~$50)
For empty-nesters and downsizers — common in the new sections of Heartland and across the Devonshire side:
- Voluspa Lychee 5.5 oz candle — $22. Sophisticated scent, sculptural jar, ages well as a vase.
- Birch & Bloom Diffuser Oil Refill — $24. If she already has a diffuser, the refill is the gift that says “I noticed you use this.”
- Hand-write the card. (We have those at the shop too.)
Why Drive to Terrell Instead of the Big-Box Off 548?
Three reasons:
- Curation. You’re not standing in front of 80 candles trying to guess. We’ve already picked the ones worth your $30.
- Wrapping. Free, in-shop, and it looks like the wrapping in the magazines.
- The drive. I-20 east from Heartland is less traffic than going west into Forney’s commercial center on a Saturday afternoon. Take Exit 501 (Tanger Drive). You’re in our parking lot before you’d be parked at Walmart.
A Note on Heartland’s Pace
Heartland is one of the largest master-planned communities in north Texas, and the build-out keeps stretching. New homes mean new neighbors mean ongoing housewarming opportunities — which means our shelves rotate with that in mind. If you’re a regular gifter, ask us about putting a small batch of bundles aside seasonally.
